FAQS
Dedicated to enhancing public access television within the City of Bowie and its surrounding communities.
How do I become a producer?
First, meet the necessary residency requirements – either reside or have a business located and operating in the incorporated City of Bowie. Then, fill out the paperwork, pay a nominal fee, and qualify for studio time. We can discuss the details with you at our offices or over the phone.
What would I use to produce a program?
You can use your own equipment if you like, and you can use the City of Bowie’s studios’ cameras and editors. BCMC can supply a “user-friendly” kit that includes: a digital camera, batteries, microphones, cables, a tripod, and lights if needed. The camera is really easy to use – all you really need to worry about is framing your shot and using the camera safely.
What about editing and finishing the show?
BCMC and the City of Bowie studio give you an overview of the equipment, and instructions on how to get started. You learn real-world production practices with modern production equipment at the City of Bowie Studio. You work together with the studio technicians to give you the hands-on time necessary to learn the basics of our modern media equipment and studio procedures. You can bring in your raw footage and have a beautifully completed show with professional edits, graphics, sound, and style. You can gain the skills and training you need to broadcast your vision and express your views. BCTV provides practical educational opportunities and internships for you to learn the skills to create media so you can tell your story, your way.
How does my show get broadcast?
Once finished, you fill out a program submission form, submit it to BCMC, and your show is scheduled to be broadcast on both of BCTV’s channels – Verizon Channel 11 and Comcast Xfinity Channel 77.
How can I get listed on the Producer page?
Producers in good standing, have paid their annual dues, and completed at least one show for airing should submit a request in writing to support@bcmctv.org
My child would like to gain community service hours in your studio. How do you apply?
Most of the application process is handled by Bowie Studio Staff through the City of Bowie.
Where do I find the air dates for BCMC shows?
