Getting Your Content On The Air

Here’s how you get new content on the air
Produce Shows Outside the Studio by remote means like Zoom or use audio/video equipment.
Produce Shows live with Skype and the studio technicians similar to being in the studio
Submit Shows Produced Outside the Studio for Broadcast
Some of you have shows you have produced at home or elsewhere that you’d like to have broadcast on Bowie Community Television. You can also share them with us now.
Here’s what you’ll need to do:
- Record the show.
- Complete a Show Submission Form
- Send us the show form and the show file (you will need a gmail account to do this)
Our technicians will receive the file, add graphics as needed, and load it to the BCMC server, where the BCMC Executive Director will schedule it for airing on the channel.
File Submission instructions
If you are submitting a single file (either the body of a show recorded at home in one take, or a final edit completed on your PC or Mac), make sure the file adheres to the following guidelines and then submit the show using the links below:
- H.264 compression along with more detailed specs (if final edit)
- 1920 x 1080 resolution
- Bit rate no greater than 10,000 kbps (or 10Mb/s)
- File length between 26-28 minutes
- File size under 10 GB (if final edit)
- File types: mp4 or mov (for questions about other file types, contact a studio technician)
- Filename
Your rendered filename should have these characteristics:
- starts with show abbreviation
- does not exceed 21 characters (including abbreviation)
- no spaces or special characters
When you are ready to submit files, please do the following:
Completed Shows
- Fill out the Show Submission Form and save to your computer
- Log into a gmail account.
- Then, open and complete the File Submission Form and upload the completed show file and Show Submission Form.
- The files will automatically be transferred to the studio.
Remote Shows by Skype
Producers are now able to Skype with the studio to create a show remotely. We can record you alone or with up to three other guests, each in a different location. Each person’s connection will be separate, but the studio will be able to coordinate with you so that you can see and speak with your guests during the recorded call. (Network news shows are using this same product to create panel shows right now.)
From the studio control room, our technicians will be able record the Skype session, use your standard lower-third name graphics, add an intro and credits, and submit to the finished show to BCMC on your behalf.
