President of BCMC
Valerie Hall Yancey was elected President of BCMC in December 2019. She has been on the Board since 2017, previously serving as Treasurer and Vice President. Ms. Yancey has been a resident of Bowie since 2001 and has served on a number of city organizational boards including the City of Bowie Arts Committee and Education Committee. She currently serves on the City of Bowie Administrative Review Board and the City of Bowie Board of Appeals.
Ms. Yancey has an undergraduate degree in Radio, Television, and Film from the University of Maryland and two Master’s degrees—MA in Legal Administration from Marymount University and MA in Producing for Film & Video from American University. She has writer, director, and producer credits for a number of short and feature-length PSAs and films (Us Against Alzheimer’s, When I’m Ready), music videos (George Howard’s, Let’s Unwind), theatre plays (The Mountaintop Experience) and in 2010, established Phoenix Rizen Entertainment, an entertainment conglomerate for book publishing, and film/video productions.
